HeartAware Privacy Policy

HeartAware is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes the information HeartAware collects from and about you through the HeartAware Mobile Application and how we use the information we collect. By using the HeartAware Mobile Application, you accept the practices described in this Privacy Policy at the time you use the Application, and you fully understand and consent to our collection, use, storing and sharing of your information and data on the terms and subject to the conditions described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any term(s) described in this Privacy Policy, please do not provide information or data to HeartAware or use the HeartAware Mobile Application.

This Privacy Policy does not cover the practices of companies that HeartAware does not own or control, or individuals or entities that HeartAware does not manage. As we explain below, your Personal Information will be used to help facilitate your school’s delivery and improvement of safety-related emergency and non-emergency services. This Privacy Policy may change over time, so it is important that you review this Policy regularly to understand how HeartAware collects and uses your information.

The Information HeartAware Collects

When you use the HeartAware Mobile Application, we collect Personal Information you provide, such as your name and email address. In addition, we will collect information you generate through your use of the HeartAware Mobile Application, including text reports and interactive messages through push notifications. HeartAware also collects information that is automatically generated through your use of its Mobile Application, such as the type of device you are using, your device’s operating system, your IP Address, the browser you are using, the way you interact with our services, and the referring website URL.

We do NOT use cookies in our mobile application, but we do conduct basic authentication through the use of a username and a password. We do use cookies in our Dashboard to keep administrative users’ authentication alive, but these cookies do not affect non-administrative users.

Do Not Track

Some browsers and operating systems have a “do not track” feature that lets you indicate that you do not wish to have your online activities tracked. These features are not yet uniform, so HeartAware does not currently respond to such features or signals. Therefore, if you select or turn on a “do not track” feature in your web browser, we may continue collecting information about your online activities as described in this Privacy Policy.

Notice to Non-US Users

If you are located outside the United States of America and are using the HeartAware Mobile Application, you should be aware that your Personal Information will be transferred to the United States of America, the laws of which may be deemed by your country to have inadequate data protection. If you are located in a country outside the United States of America and voluntarily submit Personal Information to us, you thereby consent to the general use of such information as provided in this Privacy Policy and to the transfer of that information to, and/or storage of that information in, the United States of America.

How HeartAware Uses Your Information

HeartAware collects and uses your Personal Information to:

  • establish and manage your account(s) with HeartAware and your medical provider;
  • make the HeartAware Mobile Application easier to use by reducing the need for you to re-enter information;
  • manages your login information by keeping your username and password encrypted in system;
  • operate the HeartAware program and deliver information you report to medical professionals;
  • analyze, measure, evaluate and enhance HeartAware’s products and services; and
  • maintain and improve the HeartAware Mobile Application.

Disclosure of Your Information

HeartAware does not sell or rent your Personal Information to third-parties. We will, however, share Personal Information with your medical providers as necessary for the purpose of facilitating the reports submitted.

Except for the ways outlined in this Privacy Policy, HeartAware will not disclose Personal Information to any third-party unless we are required to do so by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to (a) comply with a court order or other legal process served on us or assist government enforcement agencies; (b) investigate or prevent suspected illegal activities or protect the security and integrity of HeartAware; (c) enforce this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Service, or other such binding agreements; (d) take precautions against liability, investigate or defend against any third-party claims or allegations; or (e) exercise or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of HeartAware, its employees, customers, or the public.

Security of Your Personal Information

HeartAware takes security measures—physical, electronic, and procedural—to help defend against the unauthorized access and disclosure of your Personal Information. Despite these precautions, however, no system can be completely secure and there remains a risk that unauthorized access or use, hardware or software failure, human error, or a number of other factors may compromise the security of your Personal Information. While we strive to protect your Personal Information, HeartAware cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or through the HeartAware Mobile Application.

If HeartAware knows or becomes aware of a security breach of its users’ personally identifiable information, HeartAware will notify affected users or post a notice on the HeartAware Mobile Application as required by applicable law(s).

Children Under the Age of Thirteen

HeartAware does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of thirteen. In the event that we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under thirteen years of age, we will delete that information. If you believe HeartAware may have obtained information from or about a child under thirteen years of age, please contact us at Support@HeartAware.net.

Changes to this Policy

HeartAware will occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect its privacy and data security practices. HeartAware encourages you to periodically review this Policy to remain informed concerning how HeartAware is collecting, utilizing, and protecting your Personal Information.
